Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about sending cards in your own handwriting, at any scale.

Your Handwriting

You can do both. We offer a selection of default handwriting styles if you want to get started quickly. But where your cards really shine is when you create a font from your own handwriting. You scan a sample, and we build a custom font from your actual penmanship. That's what makes the card feel genuinely personal to the recipient. Other services charge $1,500+ for a custom font as a premium add-on. With us, it's a core part of the experience.

You fill out a handwriting template (either printed and scanned or completed on a tablet/ipad and stylus), and our system segments each character from your sample. From there, you enter the Font Studio, where you can preview, adjust, and optimize how your letters look. The whole process takes about 15 minutes, and by the end you have a working font that looks like you sat down and wrote every card yourself.

Yes. The Font Studio lets you fine-tune individual characters, adjust spacing, and see real-time previews of how your handwriting will appear on a card. If your lowercase "r" didn't scan well, or your "g" looks off, you can fix it before any cards go out.

No. We generate multiple variants of each character and use contextual alternates so the same letter never appears identical twice in a row. This mimics how real handwriting naturally varies from word to word. If you look at a page of your own handwriting, your "e" looks slightly different every time you write it. Ours does too.

Messy handwriting often looks more authentic than neat handwriting. The little imperfections, the inconsistent slant, the letters that don't quite sit on the line -- that's what makes it look like a real person actually wrote the card. Recipients notice perfection more than they notice messiness. So don't overthink it. If you do want to tighten things up, the Font Studio lets you adjust spacing, alignment, and individual characters while keeping the natural feel of your writing.

Yes. If you want a casual style for personal cards and a neater style for business correspondence, you can create separate fonts.

The Cards

We support flat cards (landscape and portrait) and folded cards (portrait fold and landscape fold). You can design thank-you cards, holiday cards, client appreciation notes, event invitations, or anything else that calls for a personal touch.

Both. We have templates available, but you also have access to a full card editor where you can build custom designs, upload your own artwork or branding, and control the layout. For B2B clients who need branded stationery, we can create templates that match your company's look.

Cards are printed on premium cardstock using a Canon PRO-300 printer. The print quality is comparable to what you'd get from high-end print shops. This isn't thin, flimsy stock with washed-out colors.

We use pen plotters that hold a real pen and write on the card with actual ink. This means you get real pen pressure, real ink absorption into the paper, and the subtle indentation that comes from a pen physically touching paper. It's not printed, laser-etched, or digitally simulated. A recipient can run their finger across the writing and feel it.

This is something we're building out. Contact us to discuss your specific needs and we'll let you know what's currently supported and what's coming soon.

Ordering & Fulfillment

No. You can send one card or one thousand. Single-card orders are fully supported.

We're committed to transparent, predictable turnaround times. Current processing is typically within a few business days, and we'll give you a specific timeline at checkout rather than a vague window. We don't over-promise and under-deliver.

Both options are available. We can mail cards directly to your recipients, or we can ship finished cards to you in a package so you can review, hand-sign, or distribute them yourself.

We do include Thankyou.cards branding on the card, but that's it. The handwriting itself is so authentic that recipients don't question it. Real ink from a real pen, natural variation between letters, your actual handwriting style. Nobody picks up the card and thinks "a machine wrote this." They think someone sat down and wrote them a note, which is exactly the reaction you want.

For Businesses

Our B2B clients include real estate agents, e-commerce brands, nonprofits, financial advisors, and service-based businesses. Anyone who maintains client relationships and wants to stand out beyond email and text is a fit.

We're building integrations and API access to support automated workflows. If you have a specific platform you need to connect with, reach out and we'll discuss what's available and what's on the roadmap.

Yes. Each team member can create their own font so that your office manager's thank-you cards look different from your sales lead's follow-up notes. This is especially valuable for firms where personal relationships matter, like real estate brokerages, wealth management, or client services teams.

Pricing depends on card format, quantity, and whether you need mailing or self-fulfillment. Contact us for a custom quote. We're transparent about costs and won't surprise you with hidden fees at checkout.

How It Compares

If you're sending five cards, absolutely do that. But if you're sending 50, 100, or 500, handwriting them yourself isn't realistic. The time cost alone makes it impractical. We exist to give you the output of handwriting cards yourself without the hours of work, and the recipient can't tell the difference.

Some competitors use laser printing to simulate handwriting. The result looks like a photocopy of handwriting. There's no ink texture, no pen pressure, no indentation in the paper. It's flat. Anyone who picks up the card and looks closely can tell it was printed, not written. Our pen plotters use a real pen, which produces writing that is physically indistinguishable from hand-done work.

Account & Support

Sign up, complete a handwriting template, build your font in the Font Studio, and you're ready to start designing and sending cards. The whole onboarding process can be done in a single sitting.

No problem, just send us an email at info@thankyou.cards and you'll hear back from a real person, quickly. We don't route you through chatbots, 2-hour hold queues, or automated ticket systems that go nowhere. If there's an issue with your order, we fix it.

Yes. Your handwriting sample and generated font are tied to your account and are not shared, sold, or used for any purpose other than producing your cards. Please see our Privacy Policy that covers this in more detail on our Privacy Policy page

Yes. Once your font is built, you can preview exactly how your cards will look before placing any order. What you see in the preview is what gets printed and written.
